On Tuesday, the Senate President Godswill Akpabio swore in newly elected senators to the 10th National Assembly.
Akpabio, who defeated Abdulaziz Yari to become Senate President, took over from Ahmad Lawan who led the 9th Senate.
After a recess, Sani Tambuwal declared Akpabio as the Senate President with 63 votes, while his rival received 46 votes.
The upper chamber of the National Assembly will be represented by 109 senatorial districts, with the All Progressives Congress (APC) holding the majority with 59 members-elect.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has 36 senators-elect, while the Labour Party (LP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) have two seats each.
The Young Progressives Party and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) each have one seat.
