Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a prospective owner of Manchester United, has stated that his company Ineos is still in the process of attempting to win the takeover battle for the club.

Ineos, led by Ratcliffe who is a lifelong United supporter, is one of the frontrunners for the takeover along with Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Ratcliffe aims to secure a majority stake in the club, while Sheikh Jassim wants full control.

The battle for ownership of Old Trafford has been ongoing for over seven months, with the Glazer family, the current owners, yet to make a decision.

Both Ineos and Sheikh Jassim have submitted multiple bids, with the latter presenting a fifth bid recently.

Ratcliffe and Ineos have taken a more patient approach, waiting for a decision from the Glazer family.

Ratcliffe expressed his desire to acquire the club and believes that they would do a good job for the right reasons.

He also stated that Manchester United represents a positive investment, as clubs like United are rare and their value continues to increase over time.

Ratcliffe dismissed suggestions of renaming Old Trafford for commercial purposes, stating that it would be considered heresy.
