Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, has expanded his team with the appointment of 33 new aides, including Ahmed Musa Baba, a former reporter with Daily Independent, who will now serve as Special Assistant on Print Media.
The appointments were made to ensure effective delivery of the legislative agenda of the 10th House of Representatives and to serve the Nigerian people who elected them.
The Speaker urged the new appointees to show dedication and commitment to their duties and to comply with the new schedule of duties in the Office of the Speaker.
The appointments, which include two Deputy Chiefs of Staff and two Special Advisers, take immediate effect.
He also named 19 Special Assistants with Barr. Samuel Ajayi as Special Assistant, Legal Matters; Barr. Osazee Melody Ogundijie as Special Assistant, Legislative Matters; Barr. Aminu Ramalan as Special Assistant, Finance; Amb. Ibrahim Hamidu Gusau as Special Assistant, International and Interparliamentary Affairs, and Lamir Umar Ibrahim as Special Assistant, Youth Matters.
Others are Yetunde Adeniji as Special Assistant, Women Affairs; Hon. Raphael Nnana Igbokwe, Special Assistant, Intergovernmental Affairs, while Zakari Aliyu is Principal Private Secretary, just as Leke Bayeiwu of the Punch is named the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker.
Similarly, the speaker also appointed Nura Adamu as Special Assistant, Broadcast Media; Olabamiji Enitan Jowosimi is Special Assistant, New Media, while Aliyu Garba Waziri is Special Assistant, Executive Relations and Job Creation, just as
Mohammed Salame, an immediate past member of the House was named Special Assistant, Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
Hon. Friday Itulah, a Reps member in the 7th Assembly from Edo State was named Special Assistant, Political Matters (South-South); Hon. Godfrey Gaiya, Special Assistant, Political Matters (North-West); Hanmation Mark Tersoo, Special Assistant, Political Matters (North-Central).
Others in that category include Hon. Zakari Galadima as Special Assistant, Political Matters (North-East); Abdulsalam Babakayode as Special Assistant, Political Matters (South-West), while Hon. Okwudili Christopher Ezenwankwo, Special Assistant, Political Matters (South-East); Hon. Abdulahi Sa’ad Abdulkadir, Special Assistant, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The speaker also appointed eight Senior Legislative Aides, naming Lawal Shehu Aliyu, Senior Legislative Aide on New Media 1; Auwal Usman Kombani as Senior Legislative Aide on New Media II.
Other SLAs are Mary Ann Uju Onyejimbe, Nura Mustapha, Yahaya Aminu Pate, Victor Ngun as Senior Legislative Aide on Visual Communication; Andrew Fabian as Senior Legislative Aide on Photography, and David Adebayo Dolapo as Senior Legislative Aide (Speaker’s Official Videographer).
