Sudden Appearance of Emir Sanusi's Portrait Sparks Anxiety in Kano

The sudden reappearance of the portrait of the 14th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi, in Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano, has caused anxiety in the city.

The Coronation Hall, which is currently undergoing renovation, previously displayed the portraits of the current Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, and other emirs from the four emirate councils.

This unexpected development has sparked rumors of a plan to reinstate Sanusi, who was dethroned three years ago by former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

Sanusi was accused of insubordination and working against the government.

Former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, has vowed to revisit the issues surrounding Sanusi’s removal.

While Governor Abba Yusuf has not confirmed or denied Kwankwaso’s comment, his administration has described the NNPP government as a continuation of Kwankwaso’s administration.

The state government has stated that the placement of Sanusi’s portrait in Coronation Hall is a reflection of his importance to the state and is part of the ongoing rehabilitation of the hall.
