Nigerian midfielder Papa Mustapha Daniel is close to completing a transfer to Swiss side Young Boys Bern. The 23-year-old has drawn attention following his recent involvement with the Super Eagles ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
According to Soccernet.ng, negotiations are at an advanced stage, with only medical tests and final paperwork reportedly pending before the move is confirmed. Daniel had previously left Turkish side Adanaspor due to unpaid wages, leading him back to Nigeria where he briefly featured for Sporting SFC and later Niger Tornadoes.
Since joining the Minna-based club, he has made 21 appearances, scoring three goals and assisting three more. His efforts have caught the attention of national team selectors and European scouts alike.
A switch to Young Boys could provide the platform he needs to continue his upward trajectory in club football and stay in contention for future national team duties.
As one source close to the deal shared, “Talks are progressing well and both sides are optimistic. Papa is eager to get back to Europe where he believes he belongs.”
An official statement is expected soon, pending completion of the remaining formalities.
