Celtic are once again showing strong interest in Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho as they look to strengthen their attack.

According to the Daily Record, the Scottish club are revisiting their pursuit of the Sevilla striker after missing the chance to sign him during the January transfer window.

The Nigerian international spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough, where he worked hard but could not secure promotion to the Premier League.

Iheanacho has now returned to Spain to rejoin Sevilla ahead of the new season.

The 28-year-old forward previously played under Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City, a period many remember for his standout performances.

Celtic are keen to bring Iheanacho to Glasgow, aiming to reunite him with Rodgers in a familiar setting.

Many Nigerian fans in Glasgow would welcome the signing, especially with Leon Balogun now confirmed to have left Rangers.

With Cyriel Dessers reportedly nearing a move to AEK Athens, the timing seems right for Celtic to step up their interest in Iheanacho.

Sevilla’s sporting director, Victor Orta, described the signing of Iheanacho last year as a “mistake,” suggesting the club may be open to offers.

Despite those remarks, Iheanacho remains determined to fight for his place in the Sevilla squad.

“I’m really excited to be here. It’s a wonderful place. It was good to go out and to feel football in a different environment,” Iheanacho shared with Mundo Deportivo.

“Seville is a great club. I loved my experience there. It’s a great team and I’ll be happy to get back there,” he added.

Sevilla signed Iheanacho on a free transfer last summer and are not expected to demand a high fee if Celtic decide to move forward.

His current contract with the Spanish club will run until the end of next season.
