The Super Falcons’ latest triumph has now led to another milestone, with Justine Madugu and Chiamaka Nnadozie landing on the 2025 Ballon d’Or shortlist – www.naijnaira.com reports.

According to France Football, Madugu is in the running for the Johan Cruyff Trophy, while Nnadozie is competing for the Women’s Yashin Trophy.

Madugu’s nod comes after masterminding Nigeria’s dramatic WAFCON final comeback from 2-0 down to beat Morocco 3-2, sealing the team’s 10th continental crown.

His tactical command throughout the tournament earned him the Best Coach award and a place alongside Sarina Wiegman, Sonia Bompastor, Arthur Elias, and Renée Slegers.

Nnadozie, 24, earned her spot by keeping four clean sheets at WAFCON 2024, winning Best Goalkeeper, and helping Paris FC lift the Coupe de France Féminine.

She now plays for Brighton & Hove Albion, becoming the first Nigerian woman to feature as a goalkeeper in the English Women’s Super League.

Her competition for the Yashin Trophy includes Ann-Katrin Berger, Cata Coll, Hannah Hampton, and Daphne van Domselaar, with winners announced September 22 in Paris.
