The Lagos State Government has announced a 24-hour closure of the Third Mainland Bridge to facilitate essential repair works.

According to Jubril Gawat, spokesperson for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the closure is necessary to allow contractors to carry out critical repairs on the bridge.

This closure will affect both bounds of the carriageways. The temporary closure of the Third Mainland Bridge is scheduled to begin at noon on Wednesday, February 28th, 2024, and will remain in effect until noon on Thursday, February 29, 2024.

During this period, motorists are advised to plan alternative routes and make necessary adjustments to their travel plans. The repair works on the Third Mainland Bridge are part of the government’s efforts to ensure the safety and longevity of the infrastructure.

The closure will allow contractors to address any structural issues and carry out necessary maintenance work.

This proactive approach aims to prevent any potential hazards and ensure the smooth functioning of the bridge in the long run.

The Lagos State Government recognizes the inconvenience caused by the closure and apologizes for any disruption to commuters’ daily routines.

However, the temporary closure is essential to ensure the safety and integrity of the Third Mainland Bridge.

Motorists are advised to follow traffic diversions and adhere to all instructions from traffic management officials during this period.
