The President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government has recently approved a significant salary increase for civil servants in the country. This increase ranges from 25% to 35% and applies to civil servants in the remaining six consolidated salary structures.

These structures include Conpss, Conraiss, Conposs, Conpass, Coniccs, and Conafss. In addition to the salary increase for civil servants, President Tinubu also approved an increase between 20% and 28% for pensioners on the Defined Benefits Scheme.

The government has stated that these increments took effect from January 1, 2024. It is important to note that this salary increase follows previous increments for workers in the tertiary education and health sectors.

Workers in these sectors, including lecturers in universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education, received salary increments based on their respective consolidated salary structures.

The Consolidated University Academic Salary Structure (Conuass) and Consolidated Tertiary Institutions Salary Structure (Contiss) were implemented for university lecturers.

Meanwhile, lecturers in polytechnics and colleges of education were categorized under the Consolidated Polytechnics and Colleges of Education Academic Staff Salary Structure (Conpcass) and Consolidated Tertiary Educational Institutions Salary Structure (Contediss).
