The Bola Tinubu-led federal government is reportedly planning to investigate former Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) Abubakar Malami for his involvement in several suspicious deals during the previous administration.

According to reliable sources, an undisclosed security agency has been tasked with interrogating Malami regarding these deals.

The specific deals that will be probed include:

1) the questionable payment of $496 million to Global Steel Holdings Ltd (GSHL) as settlement for the termination of the Ajaokuta Steel concession,

2) Malami’s handling of the sale of forfeited assets to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC),

3) his role in the $419 million judgment debt awarded to consultants for facilitating the Paris Club refunds,

4) his involvement in a disputed agreement to pay Sunrise Power $200 million compensation for the Mambilla power project,

5) and the alleged duplication of legal fees in the transfer of $321 million from late General Sani Abacha’s loot from Switzerland to Nigeria.
