The recent resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has led to speculation about who will replace him.
According to reports, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has chosen former Kano governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, as the new chairman.
This decision was reportedly made during a meeting between Tinubu, Ganduje, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Kwara State Governor, and two others at the presidential villa.
Ganduje, who was initially nominated for a ministerial position, was asked to nominate someone from Kano State as his replacement.
The official announcement of Ganduje as the new chairman is expected to be made at the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.
Meanwhile, Senator Ajibola Basiru from Osun State is rumored to be the replacement for the party’s national secretary, Iyiola Omisore, who also resigned alongside Adamu.
Governor Uzodimma, when asked about Ganduje’s appointment, refused to comment on the matter.
The APC’s proposed national caucus and NEC meetings have been postponed in light of the recent developments.
