President Bola Tinubu and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), have failed in their attempt to stop the Allied People’s Movement (APM) from petitioning against Tinubu’s qualification for the February 25 presidential election.

Tinubu’s lead counsel, Wole Olanipekun (SAN), tried to use a Supreme Court judgment to dismiss the APM’s petition, but the request was denied by the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC).

The tribunal, led by Justice Haruna Simon Tsammani, refused to shut out the APM and held that they have the right to a fair hearing.

The APM’s lawyer, Gideon Ijiagbonya, requested an adjournment until June 26 to obtain a vital document from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to establish their case, but the tribunal rejected the request and set June 21 for the hearing of the petition.
