Todd Boehly, the owner of Chelsea, has come under fire for his handling of the managerial role at the club following the sacking of Graham Potter after just seven months in charge.

Despite valid criticisms of Potter’s performance, former Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys has criticized Boehly for creating a “shambles” at the club, linking the sacking to the club’s over £300 million spending spree in the January transfer market.

This comes after the sacking of Champions League-winning manager Thomas Tuchel in September. Keys believes that while Potter’s sacking was inevitable, Tuchel’s was a mistake.

Boehly took over the club last May and did not immediately appoint a Director of Football or Sporting Director, instead choosing to deal with transfers himself, leading to signings that have yet to yield expected returns.

Bruno Saltor has become interim boss while the club considers a number of candidates for a permanent appointment, including Mauricio Pochettino, Zinedine Zidane, Luis Enrique, and Julian Nagelsmann.
