Rapper Tory Lanez, currently serving a 10-year sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020, was hospitalized on May 13, 2025, after being stabbed 14 times in a prison attack. The incident took place at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi, located north of Los Angeles.
According to prison officials, Lanez was attacked by another inmate early in the morning around 7:20 AM. He sustained multiple injuries, including seven stabs to his back, four in his torso, and additional wounds to his head and face. The rapper, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, was rushed to a hospital after prison staff performed first aid.
His team later confirmed that Lanez suffered two collapsed lungs and was placed on a breathing apparatus following the attack. However, the rapper has made progress and is now breathing on his own and speaking normally despite ongoing pain. “He is in good spirits,” his team said.
After being initially treated, Lanez was airlifted to Kern Medical Hospital due to the seriousness of his condition. Authorities have confirmed that an investigation is underway into the incident.
Lanez is serving time for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion, which left her with serious foot injuries. A jury found Lanez guilty in 2023 of three felonies related to the shooting.
