Thousands of anti-Trump protesters gathered in Washington, DC, and across the United States on April 5, 2025. These protests were part of more than 1,200 demonstrations, marking the largest single day of protest against President Trump and his ally, Elon Musk. The rally in Washington attracted over 20,000 participants, according to Reuters. Protesters voiced opposition to Trump’s policies on immigration, trade tariffs, and government reform.

Under gloomy skies and light rain, protesters filled the grounds near the Washington Monument. Many carried signs and chanted against Trump’s administration. Terry Klein, a retired biomedical scientist, said, “Our whole country is under attack, all of our institutions, all the things that make America what it is.” Demonstrators came from various backgrounds. Some carried Ukrainian flags, others wore Palestinian scarves, calling for social justice.

The rally extended beyond Washington. Protests occurred in all 50 states, as well as in Canada and Mexico. In Florida, more than 400 people gathered outside Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate. They held signs like “Markets tank, Trump golfs.” Critics of Trump’s economic policies, especially his tariffs, voiced discontent.

Trump’s team, led by Musk, has cut more than 200,000 jobs from the federal workforce. This includes layoffs at the IRS and Social Security Administration. These cuts sparked additional protests. In Baltimore, Linda Falcao, 65, expressed frustration: “I need my money. I want my money. I want my benefits!”

Despite the protests, Trump stays focused on his agenda. His legal battles and executive actions aim to expand presidential power. His supporters praise his policies, calling them necessary to disrupt the status quo. However, critics argue these changes harm ordinary citizens. Protests in Europe, including Berlin, Frankfurt, Paris, and London, echoed similar opposition to Trump’s leadership.
