In a recent announcement, the Nigerian Army revealed that two more girls who were abducted by Boko Haram in 2014 from the Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok have been rescued.

Hauwa Maltha and Esther Marcus, who were listed as serial numbers two and 103 of the missing victims, were rescued on April 21, 2023, by troops of 114 Taskforce Battalion Bitta at Lagara.

Hauwa, who got married twice during her captivity, was about 8 months and 2 weeks pregnant at the time of her rescue and gave birth to a baby boy named Fatima on April 28, 2023, while undergoing medical examination at the 7 Division Medical Hospital and Services.

The rescue operation was a success and a glimmer of hope for the remaining missing girls.
