UEFA has confirmed that the Champions League final will now start at 6:00 pm local time beginning with the 2025/2026 season – www.naijnaira.com reports.
According to Daily Post, the adjustment was introduced to give more fans around the world a chance to watch Europe’s biggest club game.
The governing body explained that the change caters to both stadium-goers and television audiences running into hundreds of millions.
“This decision is about enhancing the overall matchday experience and making the final more accessible,” UEFA said in a statement.
For years, the showpiece event traditionally kicked off at 9:00 pm, with last season’s clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan following that schedule.
The move to an earlier time is also aimed at reducing late-night travel difficulties for supporters attending the match in person.
This season’s final will take place at the Puskás Arena in Budapest, Hungary, a venue that has already hosted several high-profile matches.
UEFA stressed that balancing global broadcast demand with the comfort of fans at the stadium was a central factor in the decision.
