Popular Nigerian comedian and activist, Francis Agoda, better known as I Go Dye, has been appointed Global Diplomat for Sustainable Development and Peace Advocate by the International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA), NaijNaira can report.
The IAWPA Senate and Governing Council awarded him this honor in recognition of his enduring commitment to peacebuilding, humanitarian efforts, and sustainable development.
In his new role, he will engage with UN-member states, driving multilateral diplomacy and supporting the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
IAWPA issued him an official UN diplomatic passport, a UN ID card naming him “His Excellency, Ambassador Francis Agoda”, a UNV Roster Code, and a diplomatic license plate (Corps Diplomatique EPA CD 79) for international peace missions.
His activism stems from personal trauma — he survived the deadly 1997 Ijaw-Itsekiri conflict, an event that claimed the lives of three close friends.
By 1999, I Go Dye had emerged as a key voice calling for peace and demilitarization in the Niger Delta.
His co-produced documentary Peace in Sight, backed by the Nigerian government and the UN, highlighted conflict resolution strategies.
He has received over 300 awards, donated his $9.5 million mansion for COVID-19 relief in 2019, and remains vocal on governance, equity, and social change.
