A tragic incident occurred in Abuja as a two-storey plaza collapsed during heavy rainfall.
The incident took place at Lagos street, Garki Village in the Garki District.
Emergency officials reported that 37 people have been rescued so far, but unfortunately, two individuals have suffered fatal injuries.
Due to the lack of immediate access to an excavator, rescue operations have been slow and are being carried out manually.
The Director General of FCT Emergency Management Agency, Dr Abbas Idriss, confirmed the rescue efforts and stated that the victims have been transported to medical facilities in Abuja.
Despite the ongoing rain, rescue teams and community members are working tirelessly to save those still trapped.
The rescue mission will continue until equipment arrives to enhance the operations.
