WhatsApp has introduced a new security feature that allows users to password-protect their chats.
The new feature will create a password- or biometrics-protected folder for locked chats, and notifications from those conversations will not display the sender or message content.
Mark Zuckerberg, co-founder of WhatsApp’s parent company Facebook, announced the new feature on his official Facebook page, sharing pictures of what the upgrade looks like.
The new feature, called Chat Lock, adds an extra layer of security to protect users’ most intimate conversations.
Locked chats will be hidden in a separate folder that can only be accessed with the device password or biometric authentication, such as a fingerprint.
The contents of the chat will also be automatically hidden in notifications.
