The new Clean Energy Charging feature included in iOS 16.1 has been gaining popularity.
It works with Optimized Battery Charging to try and maximize the use of your local energy sources with minimal carbon emissions.
Although it is automated and optimized for energy efficiency, you can still opt out if you’re having issues with a slow charging rate or meeting an 80 percent charge mark when battery optimization is enabled.
To turn off Clean Energy Charging,
- Go to your iPhone’s settings app,
- Select “Battery,”
- Then “Battery Health & Charging.”
- Scroll to the bottom and select the toggle next to “Clean Energy Charging” (it should go from green to gray).
- You will be presented with a pop-up asking whether you would like to turn off Clean Energy Charging until tomorrow or permanently;
- Choose an option accordingly.
- Finally, while here, you can also decide if you’d like to enable battery optimization again.
When all is done, your phone should return back to its standard charging speed within a few minutes.
