The billionaire rankings have shifted again, with some of the world’s wealthiest individuals experiencing major changes in net worth. Bernard Arnault, who once topped the list, has fallen to sixth place.

According to Legit.ng, Arnault’s drop follows a $916 million decline in his fortune on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. The LVMH chairman now holds a net worth of $145.0 billion, impacted by falling share prices in his luxury group.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk remains at the top with an estimated $368.9 billion. Despite recent losses, his holdings in Tesla, SpaceX, and XAI continue to drive his massive wealth.

Amazon’s Jeff Bezos stays second with $196.0 billion. However, the major shift came as Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg jumped into third place with $176.9 billion, moving ahead of both Warren Buffett and Larry Ellison.

Zuckerberg’s rise pushed Ellison into fourth with $166.3 billion, while Buffett now ranks fifth at $163.9 billion. Their positions shifted as Meta’s stock price continued to perform strongly.

Arnault’s move to sixth place marks a sharp contrast to his previous run at the top. He had dominated the rankings for months until a steady dip in LVMH stock altered his standing.

As one Forbes source put it, “The reshuffling of top billionaires is largely driven by tech stocks surging, while luxury goods take a breather.”

Here’s the latest billionaire leaderboard:

  • Elon Musk – $368.9 billion
  • Jeff Bezos – $196.0 billion
  • Mark Zuckerberg – $176.9 billion
  • Larry Ellison – $166.3 billion
  • Warren Buffett – $163.9 billion
  • Bernard Arnault & family – $145.0 billion

In Nigeria, fortunes shifted slightly among the country’s top billionaires. Aliko Dangote leads with $23.6 billion after gaining over $3 million on Wednesday. He currently ranks 82nd in the world.

Mike Adenuga follows closely after adding $2 million. His wealth stems from investments in telecommunications and oil.

Abdulsamad Rabiu’s net worth stayed stable at $4.7 billion. Meanwhile, Femi Otedola earned $1 million, raising his wealth to $1.4 billion.

Earlier in the month, Dangote celebrated his birthday with a $6 million gain in net worth, equivalent to more than ₦9.5 billion. His success story traces back to his great-grandfather, a trader of kola nuts and groundnuts in West Africa.
