Nigerian music star Innocent Idibia, widely known as 2Baba, has been appointed as Technical Adviser on Entertainment and Community Outreach in Benue State. The announcement was made by Governor Hyacinth Alia during 2Baba’s visit to the Government House in Makurdi on April 23, 2025.
According to Legit.ng, the appointment was met with applause from members of the governor’s cabinet as a video of the moment quickly gained attention online. The governor acknowledged 2Baba’s backing during the 2023 elections and spoke about the potential impact of his voice and influence in engaging with communities across the state.
Governor Alia expressed confidence in 2Baba’s ability to support social initiatives, particularly those focused on grassroots engagement. “We believe that his presence will bring a new energy to our outreach programs,” the governor said.
This role adds to 2Baba’s previous work in public service, including his positions as a UNHCR ambassador and as a ‘Good Cause Ambassador’ for the Nigerian Stock Exchange. His involvement in these efforts has focused on humanitarian support and public awareness.
With this new position, 2Baba is expected to contribute to local development through entertainment-driven outreach and community involvement efforts in Benue State.
