Miami-based investment firm 777 Partners LLC has reached an agreement to acquire a 94.1% stake in Everton FC, a Premier League football club.
The deal, confirmed in a statement on Friday, will provide 777 Partners with a foothold in the world’s richest football division.
The acquisition comes after months of negotiations between Everton owner Farhad Moshiri and potential buyers.
Everton, which has been facing financial difficulties and poor on-field performances, is also in the process of constructing a state-of-the-art stadium in Liverpool.
The takeover is subject to approval from the Premier League’s fit and proper test for owners and directors.
