Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo has told airlines to drop legal actions against Fuji legend KWAM 1 and passenger Comfort Emmanson — www.naijnaira.com reports.
He urged regulators and the Airline Operators of Nigeria to scale down punishments on both sides.
According to reports, KWAM 1 was accused of insisting on drinking alcohol aboard a ValueJet flight despite crew warnings.
Witnesses claim he moved toward the aircraft in protest and was nearly struck as it prepared for takeoff.
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority suspended two pilots, while FAAN placed an indefinite flying ban on KWAM 1.
Keyamo now wants both penalties reduced to one month.
In a separate case, Comfort Emmanson was accused of assaulting Ibom Air staff after refusing to turn off her phone.
She was dragged off the plane, partially exposed, and jailed.
Keyamo ordered her release this week and the lifetime flight ban lifted.
