Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike recently revealed the real intentions behind Nigeria’s naira redesign by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
According to Governor Wike, the policy was spearheaded by an anonymous ‘cabal’ in order to postpone the upcoming election and install an interim government.
The governor emphasized that this could be done by arousing public protests through economic hardship brought about by the non-availability of both new and old currency notes for buying food, fuel, etc.
He urged Nigerians not to vote for any candidate who was a supporter of this policy as they were “enemies of Nigeria”.
Finally, he expressed confidence in President Muhammadu Buhari’s ability to review the policy once he received reports on how it had adversely impacted residents after hearing their feedback.
