Erik ten Hag has been dismissed by Bayer Leverkusen only two matches into the Bundesliga campaign — www.naijnaira.com reports.
The Dutch coach signed a two-year deal in May, replacing Xabi Alonso, who departed to take charge at Real Madrid.
According to BBC Sport, his dismissal comes after Leverkusen threw away winning positions in both league games, managing only a single point.
They lost 2-1 at home to Hoffenheim despite leading early and collapsed again against 10-man Werder Bremen, drawing 3-3 after holding 2-0 and 3-1 leads.
“Building a new and successful team with this set-up is not feasible,” said managing director Simon Rolfes, admitting the club had little choice.
Club CEO Fernando Carro added, “Parting ways this early is painful, but necessary if we want to meet our goals for the season.”
Ten Hag’s sacking is now the quickest in Bundesliga history, breaking the previous record of five games.
He was already under pressure after a summer of major squad changes, with Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong moving to Liverpool, Granit Xhaka joining Sunderland, and Jonathan Tah heading to Bayern Munich.
The German side spent heavily on reinforcements, including Malik Tillman, Jarell Quansah, and Eliesse Ben Seghir, in deals worth more than £88m plus add-ons.
Leverkusen, last season’s Bundesliga runners-up, will temporarily hand training duties to the assistant coaches while searching for a replacement.
They remain in the Champions League group stage, facing Manchester City and Newcastle later this year, while their next domestic fixture is at home against Eintracht Frankfurt on 12 September.
