Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar welcomed former Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) state chairmen to his Abuja home as political attention shifts toward 2027 — www.naijnaira.com reports.
According to Legit.ng, Atiku said the private session was meant to strengthen conversations on building a formidable front against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress.
He explained that the gathering focused on creating what he called “a coalition platform powered by the people,” stressing that the group’s commitment was to rescue Nigerians from what he described as “an anti-people government.”
“The CPC chairmen came to show support for our efforts to restore hope and redirect the country toward a government that truly prioritizes ordinary citizens,” Atiku wrote on his official X page.
A video from the meeting showed several former CPC chairmen openly pledging loyalty to Atiku’s movement while vowing to help deliver victory at the polls.
Atiku added that the new partnership was being built under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which he said would serve as a broad coalition vehicle ahead of the next election.
Meanwhile, a faction of the CPC Forum distanced itself from the Abuja visit, insisting the attendance of some former chairmen was a personal choice rather than a collective decision.
Reports also confirmed that twenty state chairmen reaffirmed loyalty to Tinubu and the APC, warning against sidelining the CPC bloc within the ruling party.
