African Billionaire in Final Stages of Takeover Bid for English Football Club

Nigerian billionaire Dozy Mmobuosi is reportedly close to concluding a deal to purchase Sheffield United for approximately £90million.

Current owner HRH Prince Abdullah bin Musa’ad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has been struggling to oversee the club’s finances and previously had an offer for over £100m accepted from American businessman Henry Mauriss.

But it was unsuccessful due to a complex financial structure.

With this takeover close, Mmobuosi is expected to bring new hope as he has a net worth of around £7bn and founded his own foundation focused on improving education and healthcare in Nigeria.

Also, the Blades are currently enduring a transfer embargo after defaulting on payment owed another club due to not abiding with the EFL rule 52.2.3: payments must be given before registering any new players.

Nonetheless, their performances of late have been strong as they sit 12 points clear of third-place Middlesbrough in the table with 18 matches remaining; needing just one major hiccup not to get promoted this season.
