Manuel Ugarte is reportedly set to travel to England on Tuesday to undergo a medical with Manchester United, with the Uruguayan midfielder possibly making his debut in Sunday’s Premier League clash against Liverpool.
The 23-year-old has been Manchester United’s top midfield target throughout the summer, and it is now understood that the club has reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain for his transfer.
According to reports, Ugarte will sign a long-term deal with United after completing his medical.
The transfer fee is expected to be an initial €50 million (£42.2 million), with an additional €10 million (£8.4 million) in potential add-ons.
This fee represents a reduction from PSG’s initial demand of €60 million (£50.6 million).
Ugarte joined PSG from Sporting Lisbon last summer and made 37 appearances for PSG last season.
Ugarte’s arrival is expected to trigger a midfield reshuffle at Manchester United.
Scott McTominay is anticipated to leave Old Trafford, with the Scotland international closing in on a move to Napoli.
Although Fulham showed interest earlier this summer, McTominay now seems set to switch to Serie A with Napoli.
