Verizon has been named the official telecommunications sponsor for the FIFA World Cup 2026, set to take place across Canada, Mexico, and the U.S.
This agreement also gives Verizon the role of a tournament supporter for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 in the U.S.
As part of this partnership, Verizon will provide crucial connectivity services at stadiums and other operational sites for the events.
The 2026 World Cup will be the largest in history, featuring 48 teams and 104 matches.
Verizon will ensure seamless connectivity for fans, players, and visitors, helping FIFA handle the massive influx of people needing reliable network access.
Additionally, Verizon plans to implement a program that will allow international fans to connect to its network as soon as they arrive in the U.S. or Canada.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “Football unites the world, and to unite the world we need to ensure that everyone is connected.”
He praised Verizon for supporting this global mission and facilitating connections during the tournament.
Verizon is already a key connectivity partner for the NFL in the U.S., having outfitted all 30 NFL stadiums with its 5G Ultra Wideband network.
Several of these venues, such as MetLife Stadium in New Jersey and SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, will also host World Cup matches, allowing Verizon to leverage its existing infrastructure to support FIFA’s global audience.
