President Federation Cup 2025 final, Rivers Angels vs Nasarawa Amazons, Nigerian women’s football final

Rivers Angels and Nasarawa Amazons have booked their spots in the women’s final of the 2025 President Federation Cup after securing important victories in the semi-finals on Saturday, according to reports.

In Aba, Rivers Angels, the nine-time champions and defending titleholders, edged past Ibom Angels with a narrow 1-0 win. The decisive moment came in the 63rd minute when substitute Aminat Folorunsho scored the only goal. Her low shot found the back of the net, beating Ibom’s goalkeeper Godstime Dickson.

The Port Harcourt-based Rivers Angels will now meet Nasarawa Amazons in the final. The Amazons, two-time winners of the competition, sealed their place with a 2-0 victory over Edo Queens in Ayingba. Having last lifted the trophy in 2019 and previously in 2005, Nasarawa Amazons enter the final with strong credentials. They also boast league titles from 2013 and 2017, highlighting their ambition to stop Rivers Angels from continuing their dominance.

Meanwhile, the men’s final is set between surprise package Abakaliki FC and Kwara United. Abakaliki FC, a lower-league side, earned their place after a 5-4 penalty shootout win against Ikorodu City following a goalless draw. Kwara United secured their final ticket with a narrow 1-0 win over Rangers International of Enugu.

The President Federation Cup finals, scheduled for later this month, promise to deliver intense competition and excitement for Nigerian football fans. Both finals will showcase top talent and the hunger for the coveted trophy.
