Ralph Ineson, cast as Galactus in Marvel’s Fantastic Four: First Steps, admits his intense method of preparation briefly upset his wife during a family event.

According to Empire, the British actor went to great lengths to immerse himself in the mindset of Galactus—the cosmic being known for consuming planets. Speaking about the process, Ineson shared, “I went to a wedding at the top of the Gherkin building in London, and I spent most of the afternoon just staring out, ruminating. I got in trouble with my wife – she was like, ‘You’ve got to say hello to the bride and groom at some point!’”

Ralph Ineson Galactus prep included visualising massive structures as part of his character’s experience. He described imagining the Mont Blanc tunnel as Galactus’s windpipe to help grasp the scale of the villain. The 55-year-old actor is known for playing Finchy in The Office UK and Amycus Carrow in Harry Potter.

Ineson joins a high-profile cast in Marvel’s Fantastic Four movie. Pedro Pascal plays Reed Richards, Ebon Moss-Bachrach stars as Ben Grimm, Vanessa Kirby takes the role of Sue Storm, and Joseph Quinn plays Johnny Storm. Julia Garner will appear as Silver Surfer, with John Malkovich in an undisclosed role.

The new film marks the first true cinematic appearance of Galactus in physical form. His only prior movie depiction—2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer—featured him as a CGI cloud, a version fans largely rejected.

Set to hit theatres on 25 July 2025, Marvel’s Fantastic Four: First Steps reintroduces the superhero team to a new generation. The original comics chronicle four astronauts who gain superpowers after exposure to a cosmic storm.

Ineson’s casting continues Marvel’s trend of blending respected character actors with blockbuster properties. His approach to the Galactus role prep offers a glimpse into the dedication behind bringing one of Marvel’s most iconic villains to the screen.
