Nigerian singer Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe, popularly known as Kizz Daniel, has spoken about the deep bond he shared with his late father. The 31-year-old revealed that his father, Mr. Anidugbe, was his best friend while alive.
NaijNaira learnt Kizz Daniel opened up in a recent podcast where he shared how his father’s death in 2015 greatly affected him. The singer, known for his emotional connection to his music, said, “When my dad was alive, he was my best friend.”
The loss of his father, his son in 2021, and his wife’s mother in 2024 led Kizz Daniel to create his touching song “Al-Jannah.” He explained that “Al-Jannah,” which means “paradise,” is more than a tribute to his father alone. It honours all the loved ones he and his family have lost over the years.
“I wanted to make a song for everyone, not just one person. It’s about our loved ones we have lost in this journey of life. I think I was able to accomplish that by using the word friend in the song,” he said.
Mr. Anidugbe passed away on May 9, 2015, shortly after Kizz Daniel’s 21st birthday. The singer is currently promoting his latest project, the EP titled Uncle K: Lemon Chase.
