Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has revealed that President Bola Tinubu never liked him during their time together in the All Progressives Congress, APC, NaijNaira can report.
El-Rufai made this revelation in an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’ show on Monday, as reported by Matthew Atungwu.
He shared that his loyalty was to former President Muhammadu Buhari, not Tinubu.
“Bola Tinubu never really liked me, but we never really got along. In the party, I was Buhari’s boy,” El-Rufai stated.
The former Kaduna governor said he felt more connected to Bisi Akande, the former Osun State Governor and APC chieftain.
“The person I got along with was Baba Akande,” he added.
El-Rufai also expressed doubt about the possibility of a new political coalition gaining approval under the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) led by Professor Yakubu Mahmoud.
He said he did not trust that the current INEC leadership would register any new party.
El-Rufai compared Mahmoud’s leadership to that of Attahiru Jega, under whom the APC was successfully registered.
He pointed out that the process appeared more open and possible under Jega’s tenure.
