Victor Osimhen is once again at the center of heated debate, but this time it’s for reasons far beyond transfer rumors, NaijNaira can report, after a former Italian striker didn’t hold back.
Antonio Floro Flores, speaking to Kiss Kiss Napoli, slammed the Super Eagles star, calling him “mediocre” and accusing him of abandoning the club that shaped him.
The Galatasaray loanee, who previously helped Napoli clinch the Scudetto for the first time in over 30 years, now faces backlash over his attitude toward leaving Naples.
“He only did well for one year,” Flores said. “He should go to Saudi Arabia. I get annoyed talking about a mediocre footballer.”
Flores praised Kevin De Bruyne for rejecting a Saudi payday and signing with Napoli, claiming, “He’s still hungry, still stimulated.”
He compared Osimhen unfavorably, saying, “Not even his mother knew him. Now he’s deleting Napoli from his profile. If I were his agent, I’d send him straight to Saudi.”
Despite Flores’ criticism, Osimhen’s on-field success in Turkey speaks volumes—he won the League title, Cup, and Golden Boot with Galatasaray.
Manchester United, Chelsea, and Al-Hilal all remain interested, with the Saudi side reportedly ready to increase their €40m per year offer.
Nigeria coach Eric Chelle also acknowledged transfer talks, saying, “Victor is the best striker in the world. Maybe he will go to Manchester United, Chelsea, or even Real Madrid.”
With United lacking firepower—just 1.16 goals per game last season—Osimhen could be the answer they desperately need.
