Christantus Uche has emerged as a top transfer target for Newcastle United and Aston Villa after a standout season in La Liga and a dramatic Super Eagles debut, NaijNaira can report.
The 22-year-old joined Getafe last summer from AD Ceuta for just €500,000, but now carries a market value of up to €20 million.
Uche racked up 4 goals and 7 assists in 38 appearances during the 2024–25 campaign, thriving as both a central midfielder and a second striker.
His strength, pace, and sharp decision-making have made him a key player under Getafe boss José Bordalás.
With a €25 million release clause soon to activate, Premier League clubs are watching closely.
“Uche doesn’t even know what he wants. He has offers from Serie A, but he only wants Premier League,” Getafe president Ángel Torres told Diario AS.
Ceuta also stand to gain from any transfer thanks to a 12–20% sell-on clause, potentially earning €4 million from a major move.
Internationally, Uche made a bold debut for Nigeria against Jamaica, arriving late to camp but scoring the winning penalty in a shootout.
“It was a crazy decision because, under normal circumstances, he shouldn’t have played,” said Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle.
“But he wanted to, and when he stepped onto the pitch, he brought something really important.”
Chelle added, “If he had missed, maybe it would’ve affected his national team career. But he came in with a smile and a lot of energy.”
Uche’s fearless attitude and versatility continue to turn heads, especially among Premier League scouts, who see him as a rising talent ready for the next stage.
