Barcelona have turned to Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman as a possible reinforcement after failing to sign Spain’s Nico Williams, NaijNaira can report.
Manager Hansi Flick is said to rate Lookman highly and has backed the idea of bringing him in this transfer window.
Reports in Sport suggest Atalanta may sell the winger for around €50 million, a more feasible figure after Barcelona ended their chase for Williams.
Lookman had a standout season in Italy, netting 20 goals across all competitions, including a Europa League final hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen.
The Nigerian international’s performances have drawn interest from multiple Premier League and European clubs.
“Lookman is one of the most dangerous wide forwards in Europe right now,” a source told The Athletic.
Barcelona see him as a tactically flexible player who fits Flick’s pressing and transition-focused setup.
The 27-year-old, who once played in the Premier League with Leicester, Fulham, and Everton, joined Atalanta from RB Leipzig in 2022.
Atalanta signed him for just over €10 million, but his value has surged since then.
Arsenal have also shown interest, with initial talks reportedly underway with Atalanta.
TBR Football adds that West Ham are watching Lookman closely in case they lose Mohammed Kudus to Tottenham.
While no bid has been submitted, Lookman remains a top alternative for several sides this summer.
