Kafayat Oluwatoyin Shafau, widely known as Kaffy, has redefined what it means to be a dancer in Nigeria. Over the past two decades, she has transitioned from an underestimated performer to a builder of frameworks that help creatives thrive.
According to The Nation Newspaper, Kaffy’s journey was never smooth. “When I said I was a dancer, people would ask, ‘What else do you want to do with your life?’” she said. Today, she runs Kaffy Kreative Agency, a self-funded hub supporting young creatives with structure and strategy.
She believes artists need more than talent—they need business models. “We’re dishing out, people are consuming, but many creatives lack systems that allow growth,” she noted. Her agency separates her personal brand from her business entity, ensuring others can deliver services without her presence.
“I started collecting ₦500,000 over 15 years ago. That’s now a decent starting point for dancers,” she shared.
Kaffy continues to push dance as a tool for education, therapy, and empowerment. “When people develop themselves through creative expression, productivity increases,” she explained.
Her legacy includes mentoring, entrepreneurship, and parenting. “Presence matters more than time,” she says of raising her children. Her brand reflects that same intentionality.
