Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso has no plans to leave the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), NaijNaira can report, according to Kano State NNPP chairman, Alhaji Hashimu Dungurawa.

Dungurawa told Premium Times that the recent wave of speculation surrounding Kwankwaso’s political future is being driven by opponents unsettled by his continued relevance.

“The idea of Kwankwaso joining ADC or any other party is just a miscalculation by politicians who fear his influence,” Dungurawa said.

He said Kwankwaso remains rooted in the Kwankwasiyya movement and has no reason to switch sides.

“I know Kwankwaso too well; he is not in a hurry to show where he is going,” he added.

Dungurawa described him as the political leader of northern Nigeria and someone widely respected by regional politicians.

“Every politician in this region is looking up to him, so saying he’s decamping is malicious,” he said.

Dungurawa also addressed Kwankwaso’s interactions with other political actors, saying, “As a politician with a PhD, do you expect him to hide himself or desert people?”

He said genuine supporters understand that Kwankwaso consults deeply before making any political decision.

“Those so-called followers who are jittery are pretenders,” he added.

He praised Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for impactful development projects that he said have kept opposition figures quiet.

“Governor Yusuf’s infrastructure efforts have overwhelmed the opposition,” Dungurawa stated.
