Fenerbahçe have pulled out of talks to sign Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika after Club Brugge set a €40 million asking price, NaijNaira can report.
According to Turkish outlet Fotomac, the fee demanded by Brugge is double Onyedika’s current market value of €20 million.
Sources suggest Fenerbahçe’s interest cooled quickly once the price was revealed, with no formal bid submitted.
José Mourinho’s side is managing other squad priorities and didn’t want to overextend their budget on one target.
Onyedika, 24, continues to draw attention across Europe, with interest from West Ham, Tottenham, Leeds, and Juventus.
A source close to the player said, “He’s focused on Club Brugge’s season, but knows there’s interest from top leagues.”
Despite transfer talks, Onyedika has been named in Club Brugge’s squad for the Belgian Super Cup clash against Union Saint-Gilloise.
That match will be a rematch of last season’s final, where Union edged Brugge 2-1 to lift the trophy.
The upcoming Super Cup is Club Brugge’s 22nd appearance, and they’re aiming for an 18th title.
Onyedika will be looking to make an impact, especially after Brugge’s narrow loss in the league title race.
