Tolu Arokodare won’t start Genk’s season opener against Club Brugge, but he’s far from sidelined. Manager Thorsten Fink says the striker will play a crucial role off the bench as the Belgian side launches its new campaign, www.naijnaira.com reports.

In a chat with Het Belang van Limburg, Fink shared that new signing Hyeon-gyu Oh will lead the attack from the first whistle. “We’ve given Oh the confidence to start the season as our first striker. He’s earned it,” Fink stated. Still, he praised Arokodare for staying focused and professional about the shift. “Fortunately, he’s handling it very well,” Fink added.

Arokodare had an explosive 2024/25 season, finishing with 21 goals and six assists in 40 games. His standout year attracted interest from clubs like AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, and Fulham.

Despite transfer talk, Fink underlined Arokodare’s importance, calling him a reliable “super-sub” who can swing a match with power, height, and clever movement. The coach also explained that Aaron Bibout still needs time to gel with the squad.

Genk’s title ambitions rest on having quality depth, and Arokodare’s readiness to step up could be decisive. His presence may come later in games, but his impact could be immediate.
