European leaders are urging that Ukraine be directly involved in any talks between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin aimed at ending the ongoing war — www.naijnaira.com reports.

The planned meeting between the US and Russian presidents in Alaska this Friday has sparked concern across the EU.

Officials fear excluding Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky could lead to a deal forcing Kyiv to give up territory.

France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Britain, Finland, and EU Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen said, “The path to peace in Ukraine cannot be decided without Ukraine.”

Top EU diplomat Kaja Kallas stressed that the US and EU must be part of any settlement for the sake of Europe’s security.

NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte described the talks as a test of Putin’s seriousness in ending the conflict.

Zelensky thanked nations supporting his stance, calling for “a fair peace” that respects Ukraine’s sovereignty.
