Peter Obi, former Labour Party presidential candidate, has opened up on the purpose behind the new political coalition after the African Democratic Congress (ADC) was adopted as its platform, NaijNaira can report.
In a post shared on X, Obi explained that the coalition aims to unite opposition voices and push for a competent and compassionate leadership ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Yesterday, the coalition members formally adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 Nigeria General Elections,” he wrote. “Distinguished Senator David Mark will serve as National Chairman, while H.E. Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola takes on the role of National Secretary.”
Obi said the move is rooted in a shared commitment to work together and prioritise the welfare of Nigerians.
He emphasised the importance of collaboration: “No one group can change Nigeria alone. To dismantle the structures that keep our people in poverty and insecurity, we must build bridges, not walls—even when those bridges are uneasy.”
He also acknowledged the seriousness of the decision, stating it followed careful thought about Nigeria’s current state and what it would take to move forward.
