In the upcoming quarter-final clash of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, it appears that Francis Uzoho will be taking the starting position for the Super Eagles.
This decision comes as Stanley Nwabali, who has started in all four fixtures so far, is currently recovering from a knee problem.
During the last-16 encounter against Cameroon, Nwabali was unfortunately forced off the field due to an injury.
In the last 10 minutes of that match, Uzoho, the Chippa United stopper, replaced him.
Recent reports from Nigeria’s camp suggest that Nwabali might not be fit in time for Friday’s game against Angola.
In light of this, it seems that Jose Peseiro, the coach of the Super Eagles, will opt to start Francis Uzoho instead of Ojo Olorunleke.
OgaNla Media, a reliable source from Ivory Coast, took to Twitter to share the news, stating, “Brace up guys, Stanley Nwabali might miss Friday’s game against Angola. It is also obvious Jose Peseiro will start Francis Uzoho ahead of Ojo Olorunleke. All we need to do right now is to support and encourage Nwabali’s replacement.”
