Airtel Africa is set to launch its NXtra Data Center in Lagos, recognizing the growing importance of efficiently managed data centers and co-location infrastructure on the continent.

The event, scheduled for the 12th of March 2024 at Eko Atlantic, Victoria Island, Lagos, will be attended by distinguished guests, including the Governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his Ogun state counterpart, Prince Dapo Abiodun, and the minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani.

Airtel Africa aims to enhance data sovereignty, security, and preservation within the continent with the launch of NXtra.

The state-of-the-art facility is designed to address the evolving requirements of businesses, governments, and large corporations in ensuring the integrity and accessibility of critical information and digital connections.

With the exponential growth of digital services and the increasing need for robust data capacity, the 34MW data center in Lagos will play a crucial role.

The NXtra Data Center in Lagos is planned to operate with a remarkable Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) score of 1.3, while hosting high density racks.

This facility marks a significant milestone for Airtel Africa in its mission to unlock greater opportunities for businesses and drive prosperity across the continent.

Chief executive officer, Segun Ogunsanya, expressed pride in delivering vital infrastructure that brings the benefits of technology closer to Africans.

Airtel Nigeria’s CEO, Carl Cruz, highlighted the importance of the NXtra Data Center in Lagos for prospective customers in the nation’s commercial nerve center.

He believes that this infrastructure will propel Lagos and Nigeria towards a sustainable and more inclusive digital age.
