Along with Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, Alexander-Arnold’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and all three players are free to negotiate with clubs outside of England starting in January.

In an Inside Anfield feature, he was one of the few players to touch the “Welcome to Anfield” sign as they entered the tunnel.

After the game, Slot addressed the contract speculation, telling Sky Sports: “I don’t think it’s negative at all. He’s playing really well, scored a fantastic goal, and his celebration probably says it all. I don’t feel the need to add much more. I’m very happy with Trent, just as I am with Mo and Virgil. For me, there’s no difference.
“For the outside world, there may be more attention on Trent in the media compared to the other two, but I’m happy with all three of them right now.”
