Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has claimed that Godwin Emefiele, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), funded his arrest by the Department of State Services (DSS) in 2019.
According to Sowore, Emefiele sent someone to inform him that he hadn’t seen anything yet when the DSS officers abducted him in court.
Sowore also alleged that Emefiele, along with Isa Funtua and Abba Kyari, Chief of Staff to Muhammadu Buhari, were funding his ordeal.
The DSS’s actions have been criticized as a display of lawlessness. In a separate incident, Emefiele was re-arrested by the DSS after being granted bail by a Federal High Court in Lagos.
The details of the ongoing legal battle between Emefiele and the DSS remain unclear.
