Manchester United are finalising the £62.5 million transfer of Matheus Cunha from Wolves, as new manager Ruben Amorim targets a fast rebuild following a turbulent season.

According to The Mirror, the Red Devils have already agreed personal terms with the Brazilian forward, with payment structure details now being the final step before the move becomes official.

Cunha proved instrumental in keeping Wolves in the Premier League and has caught the eye of several top-flight clubs. Liverpool boss Arne Slot recently admitted, “He’s more than capable of playing for a top team in the Premier League.”

With the Cunha deal nearly sealed, Amorim is already looking ahead. Reports suggest he has a three-man shortlist of attacking options, with Ipswich striker Liam Delap among the names being considered. Despite Ipswich’s relegation, Delap impressed during the season and is expected to move, with a £30m release clause in his contract. However, Chelsea’s Champions League qualification could give them an edge in the race.

Crystal Palace winger Eberechi Eze is also on United’s radar. After helping the Eagles secure the FA Cup, his stock has risen significantly. The club is reluctant to lose another key player following Michael Olise’s departure last year, and their European qualification may help them retain Eze.

Another name linked is Bryan Mbeumo. The Brentford forward scored 20 Premier League goals this season and has emerged as a top candidate to strengthen United’s attacking options. Brentford have shown a willingness to sell key players when the price is right, as seen with Ivan Toney.

Amorim’s tactical preference for a 3-4-3 system may also see him pursue natural wing-backs, although no specific targets have been identified yet. United were recently beaten by Chelsea to the signing of Sporting Lisbon’s Geovany Quenda. Meanwhile, questions remain over whether a new goalkeeper will be added to the summer overhaul.

Following their worst-ever Premier League finish, Amorim is pushing for quick and effective transfer activity. With Cunha on the brink of becoming United’s first major summer signing, fans can expect more movement in the coming weeks.
