The Kaduna chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has addressed recent speculations about the suspension of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of the state.

Reports had suggested that El-Rufai would face suspension from the ruling party due to alleged anti-party activities.

However, the spokesperson for the APC in Kaduna, Salisu Wusono, dismissed these claims, stating categorically that there is no plan by the party leadership to suspend El-Rufai.

It is worth noting that El-Rufai was recently seen with Senator Abdul Ningi, who was suspended for accusing the 2024 budget of being padded by approximately ₦3 trillion.

El-Rufai also paid a visit to the headquarters of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Abuja. These visits sparked debates on and off social media, with many speculating that the former governor was plotting a political move.

In response to these speculations, the SDP national chair, Shehu Gabam, clarified that El-Rufai’s visit should not be given political meanings. Gabam emphasized that he has known El-Rufai for a long time and that visits from politicians of different parties are not uncommon.

He cited examples of other politicians, including Al Mustapha, who have visited the SDP office without any political implications.

El-Rufai played a significant role in the merger that led to the formation of the APC before the 2015 elections.

However, the Kaduna State House of Assembly has recently initiated a probe into the “multi-million dollar loans” taken during El-Rufai’s administration.

The outcome of this investigation remains to be seen.
